Here are some recent updates from ASAPbio and the world of preprints and open peer review.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re hiring (please help us spread the word!)<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preprints now appear at Europe PMC<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A digest of recent preprint and peer review news<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Job posting: advance the use of preprints in the life sciences as Associate Director at ASAPbio<\/h2>\n<p><i>View this <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/job-posting\"><i>on the web.<\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Join us to help make scholarly communication in the life sciences more open and efficient by catalyzing cultural change around the use of preprints!<\/p>\n<p><b>About ASAPbio<\/b><br \/>\nWe\u2019re a young 501(c)(3) nonprofit that got its start in start in 2015 as an informal group of researchers who organized a meeting to discuss <a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/meetings\">supporting the use of preprints in the life sciences<\/a>. Since that time, we have <a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/faseb\">advocated for policy changes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/asapbio-ambassadors\">stimulated community organization<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/licensing\">organized discussions around best practices<\/a>, and expanded our focus to other areas such as <a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/peer-review\/summary\">transparency and innovation in peer review<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>The position<\/b><br \/>\nThe Associate Director will 1) manage and grow the community of ASAPbio ambassadors, 2) create resources to enable advocacy for preprints, 3) drive discussions on best practices, and 4) assist with general operations of ASAPbio.<\/p>\n<p><b>Requirements<\/b><br \/>\nPhD in biology or a related field; a passion for open science &amp; preprints; strong communication skills; experience in advocacy, outreach, event organization, and\/or community management<\/p>\n<p><b>Hours, location, and start date<\/b><br \/>\nThis is a full time position. Executive Director Jessica Polka is located in Cambridge, MA, so the Boston area is preferred. Expected start date is 2018-09-01.<\/p>\n<p><b>To apply<\/b><br \/>\nPlease send a CV and cover letter to jessica.polka@asapbio.org with the words \u201cJob application\u201d in the subject line.<\/p>\n<h2>Preprints on Europe PMC<\/h2>\n<p>Starting today, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.europepmc.org\/2018\/07\/preprints.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">you can find preprints on Europe PMC<\/a>! Abstracts of preprints from several different servers, including bioRxiv, are now indexed along with published papers.
