Here\u2019s what\u2019s happened:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The report of our February meeting at HHMI was published in <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/science.sciencemag.org\/content\/352\/6288\/899.full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Science<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Ron Vale and Tony Hyman recently published an article about priority of discovery &amp; preprints in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/elifesciences.org\/content\/5\/e16931\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eLife<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.simonsfoundation.org\/uncategorized\/foundations-announce-support-for-scientist-driven-effort-to-promote-use-of-preprints-in-the-life-sciences\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ASAPbio was awarded grants totalling $400,000<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in provisional funding from the Arnold, Sloan, Simons, and Moore foundations for a period of 18 months.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We held a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/asapbio-funders-workshop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funders\u2019 Workshop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the NIH on May 24th.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As an output of this, representatives from funding agencies <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/summary-of-the-asapbio-funders-workshop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">called for ASAPbio to develop a proposal for a preprint service for biology<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In response to this request, we\u2019re now seeking<\/span><b> feedback from the community on a draft <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/summary-of-a-central-preprint-service-model\"><b>proposal for a central preprint service<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that could aggregate content from multiple servers. <\/span><b>Please consider leaving a public comment on the web and sharing the link with your networks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. After future iterations, we will present several variations to funders in the fall.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To develop the technical aspects of this proposal, we\u2019re hosting a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/asapbio.org\/announcing-technical-workshop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Technical Workshop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Cambridge, MA on 8\/30. We\u2019re aiming to provide a video stream so that anyone can follow along.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, effective 8\/1, I\u2019m now serving as full-time director of ASAPbio!
