Institutional recognition of preprints

In this community call, we focus on institutional recognition of preprints, a key barrier for wider preprint adoption. We will hear from Michael Dougherty (University of Maryland) who is representing HELIOS (Higher Education Leadership Initiative for Open Scholarship) to discuss the importance of working directly with departments to bring about change. We will also hear from Shubha Tole (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research) whose department recently changed PhD graduation requirements to allow for preprints in place of peer reviewed papers.
